THE JAPAN COUNCIL

The Japan Council’s mission at the University of Pittsburgh is to promote the production of original research on Japan and the conveyance of knowledge about Japan to members of the university, the region, the nation, and the world. To support this mission, the council endeavors to build cooperative relationships nationally and internationally with academic institutions, government agencies, businesses, civic groups, and non-profit organizations. Through the production and conveyance of knowledge and the building of relationships, the Council seeks to foster productive engagement between the US and Japan and to further understanding between the two countries.
